Parallel work

Although less than five percent of listed companies permitted their employees to engage in side jobs or businesses just five years ago, this figure has risen to sixty percent over the past few years in line with the adoption of work style reforms and telework.

A year is made up of 240 working days and 125 holidays. An increasing number of people are now monetizing their expertise by making use of half of their days off as well as their paid leave.

I am happy to say that it is now possible for employees to build their own career portfolio, with your current profession being regarded as your first project and side job as your second one.

Many businesspersons in the USA or Europe are conscious of this and actively undertake work on the side. This trend is gradually starting to take off in Japan, too. Five years from now, I anticipate a situation where people balancing multiple jobs will become the norm.
